We all learn in different ways, by hearing, seeing or doing. Why not complete this quizz with the help of an adult and find out how you learn best. Then you can leave a comment. We can then make some comparisons with others in the class. Have fun!

Here is another aboriginal Dreamtime story called The Rainbow Serpent. There are many aboriginal clans who tell this story, each one a little different from the rest. But I wonder what the main message of the story is?

Watch and listen to the story above and think about the following questions-

!. Who is the main character of the story?

2. How did the serpent behave?

3. What happened to the environment as the serpent travelled the land?

4. What was your favourite part of the story?

Now for the biggest question which will really stretch your brain-

5. Why is this story so important to the aboriginal people?

1. Who is the main character?

2. What happened at the beginning of the story?

3. What happened in the middle?

4. What happened in the end?

5. How did Tiddalik’s actions affect the other animals and the environment?

A couple of weeks ago, we read the online story of Goldilocks. Many of the children were familiar with the story. They were then asked to describe what happened at the beginning of the story, the middle, and then the end.

After sharing our thoughts and scribing them on the board, I gave them the opportunity to draw and write their understanding of the events. The children know how important it is for their illustrations and writing to match and make sense.

Even though this activity was not completed, 2 weeks on we will visit the story again and revise, add to, and edit their writing. They understand that part of being a good writer is spending some time and thought on the revising and editing process.

I will post some examples of work in the coming days.

Click on the book cover below and enjoy a classic childhood fairytale.

Collaborative learning  and peer assessment is very much a part of Prep D. In these photos, the children are taking turns to share the pictures they made with coloured paper. The task was to design their own picture using as many 2D shapes as they could and be able to identify them and explain their properties to others. It was amazing to see how engaged the children were, listening attentively and then self-evaluating their own work.  IMGA0794 IMGA0795 IMGA0796 IMGA0797 IMGA0798
